Louis Vuitton presents its new advertising campaign featuring Matthias Schoenaerts

In the same mood as a collection inspired by the Americana, the men’s spring/summer 2014 campaign by Louis Vuitton takes the Maison’s iconic “gentleman traveller” on a journey to the open spaces of the American South West. This traveller is represented by Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts, who lends his powerful eyes and contemporary masculinity to the image of the Louis Vuitton man.

With a bag on his back, he contemplates a horizon with a landscape reminiscent of an America where the past, present and future combine; a man on the move, whose charisma fills the vastness of the space. The campaign was shot in Page, Arizona, on the banks of the Glen Canyon dam, which features some spectacular scenery combining wild nature and escapism, and captured through the lens of the photographer Mikael Jansson.

Matthias Schoenaerts carries the Sirius and Cabas East/West bags from the spring/summer 2014 collection designed by Kim Jones, who took inspiration for the look from the myths and codes of the America of yesteryear for a vision packed with authenticity, combined with the know-how of the Louis Vuitton workshops.

Making his first public appearance in the impressive Bullhead (2011), Matthias Schoenaerts studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp before beginning a successful career in his native country. He was selected by Jacques Audiard to partner Marion Cotillard in Rust and Bone (2012), winning the César award for most promising male actor in 2013. His magnetic presence can now be seen in the international arena, in 2014 he is set to feature in Suite Française a film directed by Saul Dibb, in which he will appear alongside American actress Michelle Williams and in Far From The Madding Crowd directed by Thomas Vinterberg with Carey Mulligan.

The new Louis Vuitton advertising campaign featuring Matthias Schoenaerts will be revealed in February issues of magazines throughout the world.
