Communities to benefit from ‘Rock Hard Cares’ Initiative

Local company Rock Hard Cement (RHC) is on a mission to assist those most in need throughout Barbados, with the launch of ‘Rock Hard Cares’. The initiative is being held in partnership with Capital Media and will see community members nominate individuals and non-governmental organizations who they believe are in need of support.

RHC’s Operations Manager, Darren Matthews says the company has recognized the hardships many Barbadians are experiencing today. “Since we launched in 2015, we have supported our communities and we always wanted to do more. ‘Rock Hard Cares’ is our way of helping as many people in need as possible.”

Mr. Matthews adds that there may be situations where individuals are not able to request the help they require. “With Rock Hard Cares, we are asking for communities to identify someone who may need a ‘little assistance’.” He is therefore encouraging all Barbadians to look out for each other and to nominate individuals or NGOs who may be in need of support. “Together, we can help. Together, we can build stronger communities.”

Meantime Capital Media’s Advertising Coordinator, Rebecca Fernandes says her team is proud to be a part of the initiative with Rock Hard Cement, as it mirrors the company’s commitment to service. “Capital Media is rooted in the belief that what we do is to serve and build our community and wherever possible we work with partners to achieve these objectives.”
Ms. Fernandes says a committee has been set up to ensure transparency in choosing the projects to receive support, adding that RHC will provide all of the financial resources for this effort. “If you are aware of a person who is suffering, a cause that needs support, a specific project within your community, we encourage you to fill out the online form which can be found on both of our social media platforms, or a physical form at Fresh Market Grocery at Coverley.” The investigation committee will then consider the applications and assist wherever possible.

The outreach programme officially kicked off this August and will run for one year. Submissions can also be made in writing and sent to Capital Media – Attn: Rock Hard Cares.
